| Walterboro, the county seat of Colleton County, is centrally located on Interstate 95 and the intersection U.S. Highways 15 and 17A, and S.C. Highways 63 and 64. Walterboro is 45 minutes from Charleston's international airport and within an hour and a half of three sea ports (Charleston, Beaufort, Savannah). The city has a mayor and city council government with an appointed city manager. Walterboro has a population of approximately 7,500 citizens, with the greater Walterboro area hosting about 30,000 people. Walterboro has many historical structures that add charm to our friendly city. |

Walterboro's old central business district is one of the state's few remaining active "down towns". You can find many shops and antique stores along this quaint main street. |
| South Carolina's only Artisans Center is located in Walterboro. The Artisans Center's mission is to interpret, market, preserve and perpetuate the folk art and find craftsmanship of South Carolina artisans while creating a better understanding of our rich and diverse cultural heritage. The Artisans Center displays the crafts of 236 artisans. |
